RESET: How to Reset Your Life | Fawn Germer | TEDxSevilleSq

We’ve all had times when we feel stuck, lost or hopeless. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just hit the reset button? After losing both parents less than three months apart, then going through a hellish year of even more obstacles, speaker Fawn Germer felt desperate and depressed. She learned that there is a powerful (and simple) way to reboot. For her, it involved a 70-mile coastal beach trek. For you, it could be something completely different. Fawn shows how to reset whether you need a change in purpose, lifestyle, mindset or heart. Best-selling Oprah Book Author and International Leadership Speaker

Ranked 23rd on the Prestigious Global Gurus List of the Best Leadership Speakers Worldwide. Fawn has interviewed more than 300 of the most accomplished leaders of our times, including Olympic athletes, CEOs, prime ministers, presidents, Academy Award winners and many other trailblazers who shared with her the secrets of true success. From them, she learned that success is born in risk, and power comes from the self-awareness that disables our doubt and self-esteem issues.

How do our brains process speech? - Gareth Gaskell

The average 20-year-old knows between 27,000 and 52,000 different words. Spoken out loud, most of these words last less than a second. With every word, the brain has a quick decision to make: which of those thousands of options matches the signal? And about 98% of the time, the brain chooses the correct word. How is this possible? Gareth Gaskell digs into the complexities of speech comprehension.

Albert Costa is a research professor at ICREA: the Brain and Cognition Centre of the UPF, Barcelona. His gained his know how in psychology and neuroscience in Barcelona, Boston and Cambridge. His scientific interests focus on understanding how two languages coexist in the same brain. He is the author of the popular book “The bilingual brain, how does the bilingual experience sculpt the brain?”

CONFIDECE Vs COMPETENCE: Why do so many incompetent men become leaders? | Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic

There is a pathological mismatch between the qualities that seduce us in a leader and those that are needed to be an effective leader. Based on research on the psychology of leadership, Chamorro-Premuzic shows that if leaders were selected on competence rather than confidence, humility rather than charisma, and integrity rather than narcissism, we would not just end up with more competent leaders, but also more women leaders. In fact, he argues, the main obstacle preventing competent women from becoming leaders is the lack of career obstacles for incompetent men. Dr. Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic is an international authority in psychological profiling, talent management, leadership development, and people analytics. He is the Chief Talent Scientist at Manpower Group, co-founder and CEO of DeeperSignals and Metaprofiling, and Professor of Business Psychology at both University College London, and Columbia University. He has previously held academic positions at New York University and the London School of Economics, and lectured at Harvard Business School, Stanford Business School, London Business School, Johns Hopkins, IMD, and INSEAD, as well as being the CEO at Hogan Assessment Systems. Dr. Tomas has published 10 books and over 150 scientific papers, making him one of the most prolific social scientists of his generation. His work has received awards by the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology, to which he is a Fellow.

The benefits of a bilingual brain - Mia Nacamulli
